Creating A Capsule Jewellery Collection
Creating A Capsule Jewellery Collection
In most of my client sessions I get asked about jewellery and its place in a wardrobe and with outfits. To me, the jewellery you choose is the final touch to every look and it communicates a message about your essence as a person (to learn more about your own style essence, click here). Although there are fashionable jewellery trends that come and go, one fact remains: creating a small jewellery capsule for yourself is an excellent way to showcase your style while maintaining sustainability.
Instead of purchasing numerous plastic, resin and other forms of costume jewellery pieces, a well-curated "genuine" jewellery collection can be passed down through generations as heirlooms.
Your personal jewellery capsule should include versatile and timeless pieces that can be styled with a variety of outfits, as well as a few (at least one) sentimental piece(s) that has personal meaning. I recently discovered the Sir George Jewellery brand and I've ordered a number of pieces from them that I wear religiously. Some of their key pieces that I've included into my own jewellery capsule are available to order here, on my Curated Style-website, too.
These are some essential pieces to consider when creating your own jewellery capsule:
-
Sentimental Piece - The sentimental piece should be something that has personal significance, such as a family heirloom or a piece of jewellery that has been reworked to create something new. It adds a touch of sentimentality to your collection and can be passed down to future generations.
-
Diamond Studs - Diamond studs are a must-have in any jewellery collection. They are simple yet elegant and can be worn with any outfit, adding a touch of sparkle to your look. These timeless earrings can be worn year-round and are perfect for any occasion.
-
Classic Watch - A classic watch is a versatile accessory that adds a touch of sophistication to any outfit. A minimalist design in gold or silver can be paired with both winter and summer outfits. If you have loads op pinks and greens in your wardrobe, rose gold can also work well.
-
Everyday Necklace - An everyday necklace like a beaded chain or a dainty paperclip necklace is an excellent addition to your capsule. It can be worn alone or layered with other necklaces for a more statement look.
-
Statement Necklace - A statement necklace like a herringbone or chunky rope necklace can elevate any outfit. It's perfect for dressing up a simple t-shirt or adding some glamour to a little black dress.
-
Cocktail Ring - A cocktail ring is a fun addition to your jewellery collection. It can be worn for special occasions or to add some sparkle to an everyday outfit.
-
Golden Hoop Earrings Golden hoop earrings are a classic and versatile piece of jewellery. They come in different sizes, and both 10mm and 12mm are perfect for adding a touch of fun elegance to your look.
-
Herringbone or Chunky Rope Bracelet - A herringbone or chunky rope bracelet can add texture and interest to your outfit. It's perfect for layering with other bracelets or wearing on its own. I like wearing mine on the same arm as my rugged Garmin watch for that chic-sporty look.
-
Coloured Precious or Semi-Precious Stone Earrings - Lastly, a pair of coloured precious or semi-precious stone earrings like tanzanite, black diamond, emerald, or ruby can add a pop of colour to your outfit. These earrings can be worn for special occasions or to add some interest to an everyday look.
In conclusion, a well-curated jewellery capsule can add a touch of elegance and sophistication to both your winter and summer outfits.
By including timeless pieces like diamond studs, a classic watch, and versatile everyday and statement necklaces, along with a sentimental piece and some fun additions like a cocktail ring and coloured precious stone earrings, you can create a collection that reflects your personal style and can be passed down through generations. Longevity & eternal style. This is what I love xx m
